9th September 2016

We are so looking forward to seeing you when you next choose to visit Adaminaby and Lake Eucumbene here at Rainbow Pines! Why you ask?

The 2016/17 trout fishing season is getting under way and although of late we have only seen the most dedicated of Anglers we are quite sure this will change very soon now that the Lake level has started to increase. Currently Lake Eucumbene water level is 47% and due to some large inflows at present, is continuing to rise rapidly. Water temp is @ 10 degrees and food levels for trout are looking good.

The winter this year was best described as 'harsh', it was cold, wet and windy making fishing opportunity across this incredible expanse of water difficult and sometimes impossible. Good news is that for the most part all this is history and the longer days are bringing with it some amazing weather and trout fishing opportunities.

There have been a few 'dedicated' anglers around who have caught some Browns over 1 kilo using the trolling method of fishing when conditions have allowed. July and August are traditionally quiet fishing months, not because of lack of fish more lack of enthusiastic members of the public willing to brave cold conditions to catch them. Surprisingly pink lures have been working along with 'flashy' lures near the surface. One of the best things about fishing in September is that there is little need to be on the water as the sun comes up as there are good catches available right through the morning and when the sun is high! Moreover the need to be in deeper water to catch the best fish is a myth. Both Rainbows and Browns can be found in just 1 or 2 metres of water!

Shore based fishing has been quiet but if you are the type of person who loves just enjoying the serenity and safety of this type of fishing then grab some worms and get out there for a relaxing opportunity to catch a nice meal. Once again there is no need to be out in deep water. Early = in close and as the sun gets higher = further out is best.

We are looking forward to seeing you soon here at Rainbow Pines where we are always happy to offer the latest information.
